Forschungsinteressen
Meine Hauptinteressen liegen in der Evolution von Blüten, insbesondere Vielfalt und Funktion. Vor allem an den einzigartigen und bisher wenig untersuchten Blütenstrukturen von einigen basalen Gruppen der Blütenpflanzen. Ich interessiere mich insbesondere für die Lorbeerartigen (Laurales, Magnoliidae).
Die Ansätze, denen ich folge sind: die Untersuchung von anthetischen (reifen) Blüten und von, sich noch in Entwicklung befindenden, Blüten (Knospen). Ich plane fossile Blüten in meine Studien zu inkorporieren.
Die bisher verwendeten Methoden sind Rasterelektronenmikroskopie und serielle Mikrotomie. Diese werden mit Bestäubungsstudien und Röntgentomographie ergänzt. Die Röntgentomographie ermöglicht beispiellose 3D Abbildungen von Blüten.
