Der Fokus meiner Forschungsinteressen liegt auf der Evolution, klimatischen Einnischung und der Biogeographie einiger Pflanzenfamilien (Fagaceae, Cupressaceae, etc.) der nördlichen Hemisphäre innerhalb der vergangenen 65 Ma (Paläogen, Neogen). In den vergangenen Jahren lag mein Augenmerk besonders auf Miozänen Floren im mediterranen Raum. Köppen-Signaturen, NLR-Methoden und CLAMP werden von mir zur Analyse der klimatischen Signale von fossilen Floren angewandt.
