  • 1991–1995 Foreign exchange scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), PhD Thesis at the University of Vienna, Austria, entitled "Biosystematic investigations on selected genera of the tribe Urophylleae (Rubiaceae)"
  • 1991 Master Thesis "Multidisciplinary studies to clarify the systematic position of the genus Danais Vent. (Rubiaceae)"
  • 1985–1991 Biology studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich, Germany and at the University of Vienna, Austria
